how to get a slim gut (helps keep your belly from sticking out from fibroids)

For those of us with fibroids, having our belly stick out making us look pregnant or matronly is a big issue.

I've been realizing lately while dealing with some gut issues of my own (more on that soon) that fibroids are not the only reason why one's belly is sticking out. If your gut is inflamed or bulky then that can contribute to the belly sticking out look.

Also, as mentioned previously on this blog, a healthy gut is important for proper estrogen detoxification, and if that isn't working well it can contribute to fibroid growth.

So, I'm looking forward to this upcoming free Slim Gut telesummit with lots of speakers about how to get a healthy gut. Topics to be covered include:

  • What your gut microbes actually do
  • How to change your biology (instead of counting calories)
  • Healing from within
  • Importance of balancing your GI tract
  • Debunk myths about carbs and body fat
  • How to improve your metabolism naturally
  • Autoimmune triggers, prevention & reversal
  • Tips for SIBO, IBS and leaky gut
  • And more!

(I;ll write more about this soon but the "autoimmune triggers" section is especially important because fibroids are actually related to autoimmunity I recently discovered! Mind-blowing, will share more on this soon...)

Specific talk subjects that particularly interest me are:

  • Bioindividual Diets for Gut Health
  • Making Lasting Lifestyle Changes
  • How Thoughts Affect Your Gut
  • Toxic Metals and Your Weight
  • Beyond Fasting For Gut Healing
  • Weight Gain From Hormonal Imbalance
  • Key Dietary Factors in Gut Health
  • What Causes Belly Fat
  • Lymphatic System and Gut Health

There's a lot of gut-related info out there but it looks like there will be some new twists in this. Every time I listen to a telesummit I learn something new that I hadn't heard before. So I'm signing up!

Register here.

The summit starts August 12th.

useful information on gut health

As has been discussed in this blog, there is an important connection between gut health and fibroids.

Personally, in the past few years I have struggled to get rid of SIBO. And my mother has had trouble with irritable bowel syndrome. So digestive problems seem to run in the family.

So I'm looking forward to the IBS and SIBO summit coming up next month. Sounds like there will be lots of good information.

As usual with these things, it's free if you listen during the summit. Sign up here.

Candida summit -- listen for free online this weekend

Hello folks, been a bit busy here so sorry to be telling you about this late. This week was the Candida summit online. Candida is something that I struggled with for a long time before I finally defeated it, and I am pretty sure that the candida was one of the contributing factors to my fibroids forming.

The summit had lots of interesting information, including on the link between mercury and candida (I had high mercury too when my candida formed).

They are going to be doing a free replay weekend coming up this weekend (21st and 22nd). It's certainly worth checking out. More info here.

copper toxicity, fibroids, and hair analysis -- great new resource I just found

The Supplements Summit that I wrote about a little while ago just ended. I thought this was a particularly good telesummit with some interesting speakers, and especially liked the talk by the gal who put it together, Wendy Myers. Her talk was about detoxification, and I thought I knew a lot about this topic but she was mentioning so many different detox supplements I hadn't heard of that I had to grab a piece of paper to start jotting them down.

What was particularly interesting about her talk was her description of how she uses hair analysis to determine the detox protocol that she puts each person on. I had done some hair mineral analysis ten years ago but was not sure how helpful it was. But I was really impressed with how she talked about it.

I went to her site, and do what I always do when I look at one of these practitioners who is on a Telesummit, I went to the search box to type in "fibroids". In most cases it says "no results" or there is a page on fibroids that doesn't tell me anything new. But in Wendy's case, there was a very interesting article, with a really clear description of how copper toxicity can lead to fibroids, and talking about how she has helped people to deal with their fibroids using her Mineral Power detox and rebalancing program. That's her program that uses the hair analysis to create customized programs. In addition to getting rid of copper and heavy metals that can have an estrogenic effect in the body, the program also can deal with the root causes of estrogen dominance and resolve it (rather than just put band-aids on it, which is what we do when we take DIM if you ask me).

I have been too busy to write about it, but I have been doing a lot of work with a functional medicine practitioner lately, addressing various issues including getting rid of SIBO and balancing my gut flora. However something still feels off, and also my fibroids are still there. Have been starting to feel that I've reached the limit of what my current practitioner can do for me. So I'm excited to have discovered Wendy and to see what she says about my hair mineral analysis. I'll keep everyone posted. I am going to my hairdresser on Friday and have her cut the hair sample in a way that won't be too visible, and will send it in. Meanwhile, you can read more about her hair analysis service here (click "discover the program".

On her site there is also a really interesting looking podcast series, with segments about estrogen dominance, thyroid, mercury, and other topics relevant for fibroid shrinkers, plus explaining more about the hair analysis. Looking forward to listening to those. You can find them here then click on "podcast."

This looks like a great resource, am so excited!

stress and your gut

Interesting article.  As we've discussed elsewhere in this blog, gut health is also linked to estrogen processing and  fibroids.

more interesting stuff on your gut flora

Article here. Key fact:  2 years after a 1 week antibiotic course, gut flora won't have regained former diversity.  Have you taken antibiotics?  You need probiotics!

This is such an important issue, starting a new label which I haven't in awhile: gut flora.
