Take a look at this discussion forum thread that shows how results can vary incredibly widely depending on the IVF stim protocol used. Unfortunately at this point it seems that each doctor has his/her (although it's mostly his for some reason) own approach and nobody knows why some work better than others.
Also here's a bunch of really detailed technical info on stim protocols. One of the key points is that the timing of the trigger shot has a big impact on egg quality -- too early or too late not good.
