This blog is a chronicle of my quest to shrink my fibroids and enhance my fertility, and share what I have learned along the way. I wish I had known some of these things when I originally was diagnosed with fibroids years ago, so I hope others can learn from my experience. review of nattokinase
This article talks about nattokinase, and notes that although it has been suggested for use to treat fibroids, no studies have been done on this. Why don't people study something like this?

there are a lot of discussion on nattokinase, serrapeptase and neprinol on "uterinefibroids" and "HealingForFibriodsNaturally" groups in archives.
I have a large intramural fibroid now 10cm but was originally found in Feb 2008 at 2cm. i successfully conceived in Oct 2008 and had uncomplicated pregnancy. My fibroid grew to 12cm in pregnancy but did not cause any difficulties. I had a normal vaginal birth in July 2009. However, my loss of blood in the months following my birth caused very severe anemia. i began taking Fibrovan in Dec 2009 which has Nattokinase in it. I have seen some reduction in bloating and the clotting but not enough yet. i am going in July to the Mayo clinic to have a MR guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) done. Google it if not familiar but it is the only non-invasive procedure available that preserves fertility. i go to my local Dr tomorrow to have my fibroid measured & to see if the Fibrovan has helped to shrink it yet. If not, then I will go forward with the MRgFUS. However, if it is smaller then I will postpone my procedure and continue on the Nattokinase.
Hello Athena, Thanks so much for sharing your story. So wonderful that you were able to conceive despite the fibroid, but sorry to here about the anemia and other problems. Will certainly google the MRgFUS, I didn't realize that it preserved fertility. Please do let us know if your appointment tomorrow shows any results from the Fibrovan, or not.
FYI, just looked on the ExAblate (MRgFUS) website www.uterine-fibroids.org and it says in the FAQ "The effects of ExAblate on the ability to become pregnant and carry a fetus to term, and on the development of the fetus, have not yet been determined."
From http://www.womens-health.co.uk/mrgfus.html "In October 2007, MRgFUS received a European CE mark for the treatment of women wishing to preserve their fertility. Fertility is a major consideration for patients needing treatment for their fibroids. Accumulating clinical data with over 54 pregnancies in women treated with MRgFUS has been encouraging and has shown that women are able to conceive and successfully deliver following treatment."
One case study where someone got pregant after ExAblate http://focusus.net/pdfs/Pregnancy%20following%20MRgFUS_March%202007.pdf
This group is currently doing a study on whether ExAblate or myomectomy is better for fertility enhancement (note mention of negative effects of myomectomy on fertility) http://www.atlii.com/uterine_fibroids/mrgfaqs.cfm
I realize this is an old post but would love to hear updates on whether the Nattokinase helped or if Athna decided to go with the MRgFUS. I've been considering MRgFUS & also am thinking of trying to take Nattokinase. I've recently tried Pau'darco & have seen some improvement. I've also cut out soy & have been eating a well rounded vegan diet.
