Vitamin D may help shrink fibroids

This study showed that Vitamin D helped shrink fibroid tissue in vitro.

There was also a paper looking at the hypothesis that Vitamin D protects against uterine fibroids. Unfortunately however one has to pay to view it.

This article suggests that the high rate of fibroids among African American women may be linked to vitamin D deficiency.

In January of this year I was getting a bunch of blood tests done and my acupuncturist thought to check my Vitamin D levels. Indeed they were low and I have been on supplementation ever since. The sad thing is, why didn't anyone think to check this years ago?

I was recently reading about supplementing with vitamin d and I would suggest that you ensure that you are getting vitamin d3. Vitamin d2 binds almost as well as d3, however has been shown to have some health risks, and is made from irradiated yeast, from what I understand, which in itself is concerning IMO.

Thanks for posting this. May I ask, did you have any luck with shrinkage so far? Did your
doctor(s) give you an idea of how large a dose you should be taking? I'm taking d3, but I wonder if I'm taking enough. Would love to know more specifics. Thanks! Kathy

I'm taking 1-2 drops per day of BioDMulsion, 1 drop is 400 i.u.

Unfortunately no shrinkage to report but in my case have been doing concurrent with fertility treatments involving hormones, which seems to be cancelling out the fibroid shrinking efforts unfortunately.

I know this is blog is old, but I want to say what God did for me- had to be God, no one else. I was married at 32, and never been on birth control, yet we couldn't get pregnant. Fast forward to 38, had my first well woman exam in my life. Found out I had 2 big fibroids and a fluid filled cyst. My doctor said she wasn't too concerned about the fibroids because they were located in a place that wouldn't prevent or cause harm if I were to get pregnant. She wanted to make sure my cyst was shrinking so I had to come back in 2 months. In the meantime, one of the lab tests I took for my well woman's exam was a Vitamin D test. I was low and she put me on a LOT of vitamin D for five weeks. I came back for my 2nd ultrasound to see if the cyst had shrunk. Not only was the cyst shrinking, but my doctor said she could not see the fibroids anymore! She was shocked. Admittedly, I've been taking other herbs along with the Vitamin D, like Vitex, Royal Jelly, and Maca Root, but it's a good chance that the fibroids went away because of the vitamin D. My husband and I are starting once again to try and get pregnant. I thank God I'd been doing research on Vitamin D and knew to let them test my levels.
