This blog is a chronicle of my quest to shrink my fibroids and enhance my fertility, and share what I have learned along the way. I wish I had known some of these things when I originally was diagnosed with fibroids years ago, so I hope others can learn from my experience. more info on castor oil packs
I've mentioned here previously about castor oil packs. One thing that always bothered me though was that the explanation of why they are supposed to work is rather vague. However just learned of this site that has the best explanation I've seen yet. It has to do with the ability of the oil to penetrate the skin to relax the muscles. Here's the link: http://www.ovarian-cysts-pcos.com/castor-oil.html

Thank you for the interesting link. I had wondered about that as well. Between having no info on how it was supposed to help, its being so messy and time consuming to use, and reading that some castor oil is contaminated with pesticides, I had given up on it.
Thanks. I have to admit, I am not nearly as diligent with the castor oil packs as I should be, as it's such a pain. But reading things like this inspires me to be better!
i've used castor oil packs before and keep saying i'm going to start again....soon. many natural health practitioners recommend them for fibroids (and liver at same time). i was surprised to see this article warns to not use castor oil packs for 'uterine growths'. uterine fibroids certainly fall into this category. hmph. appreciation for the conversations...
Yes it's one of those things that everyone seems to say to do...but I have trouble getting organized enough to do it!
I used castor oil packs for one month on the advice of my naturopathic doctor. The fibroids were no longer visible on a recent ultrasound.
Just a couple of things to keep in mind - my fibroids were small to begin with (between 1 and 1.5 cm).
I also made some dietary changes at around the same time I used the castor oil packs. I cut out refined sugar and caffeine from my diet and I did an elimination diet to identify which foods I'm sensitive to.
Pregnant women and women who are trying to conceive should not use castor oil packs.
Wow, good for you for nipping those small fibroids in the bud! Whether it was the castor oil packs or the diet changes or a combo, whatever works!
