reposting old post on goji for fibroid shrinkers

In going to create a link for my last post when I discovered that there seems to be something wrong with my original post on goji for fibroids so am reposting it here

I've been eating a lot of goji berries. They are a good snack for fibroid shrinkers because they are high in amino acids and iron. Also discovered from this site that they are highly alkaline. What more could one want from a food! They taste like a tart raisin, and they are my favorite shade of red!

Long used in Chinese and Japanese traditional medicine and cooking, goji berries have recently become popular in the West. This Wikipedia page tells everything you would ever want to know about them.

Lately I've been wondering about my goji berries purchased in Chinatown, given the recent problems with various foods and medicines from China. And indeed the Wikipedia page suggests that lots of pesticides may be used on them. So I just ordered some of these, which are certified organic.

A Japanese friend told me that the ninja used to carry goji berries for a snack on the run, as they offered such complete nutrition and fast energy. And indeed that's what I've been using them for. (I like imagining myself as a ninja!) I even made a dinner out of them the other day when I was too pooped to cook!

I leafed through Murad's book The Cellulite Solution and he touts the benefits of goji berries too. (More on cellulite in a future post...)

switching goji juices

As I've written before I have been drinking GoChi goji juice since the beginning of the year, however have now decided to switch to Gojilania. For several reasons:

1. Gojilania has less sugars and fewer ingredients overall so closer to pure goji juice
2. Gojilania is much less expensive than the GoChi
3. Gojilania is organic
4. Gojilania is available conveniently at Whole Foods and also through Amazon.com. At the latter the pricing is good and there are also additional discounts if you sign up for regular deliveries.

If you look at this page in Amazon you'll see a very negative review criticizing the taste. It's true that the taste is a bit odd but I think that's just proof that it's not all doctored up like the GoChi juice. And you can mask it easily by mixing it with another juice. I would not drink it alone for the taste, this is a supplement not a casual sip.

Update 3-11-10:  The Gojilania is no longer available at Amazon, and it's AWOL at my Whole Foods too.  So I tried Goji Gold instead and it  turns out it tastes much better!

As I have written about before here and here, goji seems to be a good nutrition source for fibroid shrinkers and is supposed to be good for fertility and egg quality. And the juice is a convenient way to get your dose of goji goodness.

it may take awhile to shrink your fibroids...

This description of one of the popular Chinese herbal medicines for fibroids, gui zhi fu ling wan, talks about how dealing with abdominal masses is difficult and thus the Chinese treatment for fibroids can last 12-36 months! That's hard in our "I want it now" culture, and also for those of us with the biological clock ticking...

new supplements

I am now taking Wen Jing Tang, which is a spleen strengthener and should be good for increasing blood circulation to benefit those eggs and help with the fibroids! This page gives the formula and more info. This page gives some more info too.

Since I'm between IVF stimulations I'm going back to aggressive fibroid shrinking, now taking Vitalzym (4 capsules per day) plus serraptase (1 capsule per day) and continuing the homeopathic Rut. Graveolens which acts on the uterus.

My acupuncturist has also put me on a lot of Dandelion and Chlorophyll to assist with detoxification (recent tests show that I have not completely gotten rid of the mercury, plus my liver got stressed by all the IVF drugs), and upped the amount of the Beta Beet powder I am taking.

EFT case study on heavy menstrual bleeding

I have become hooked on the EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) newsletters and the great true stories of healing that happen as a result of this technique. Here's one that focuses on heavy menstrual bleeding: http://www.emofree.com/Articles2/heavy-menstrual-bleeding.htm

Now I just have to make time to do more tapping! Lately whenever I have thought of issues I have listed them on a special page in my journal, to tap on soon....

fibroids and phlegm

During the time when my fibroids were growing I also got a lipoma on my waist, on the left side. My personal theory is that whatever caused the lipoma also caused the fibroids.

I just looked it up out of curiosity and found the following:

Many tumors, growths, and lumps (but not all), some fibroids and lipomas are due to Phlegm. This often is the reason why Polycystic Ovaries and fibroids frequently accompany obsity. Again, there is a common Root - Spleen Qi Deficiency. There are special treatments for resolving Phlegm (depending on the type), but all involve addressing the underlying Spleen imbalance (and Kidney and Lung imblances when these are factors). (On this page http://askwaltstollmd.com/archives/tcm/78268.html)

I think I’m a phlegm-y person in general as I virtually always have a bit of post-nasal drip type phlegm going on even though I’ve gotten a lot of treatment for allergies.

My acupuncturist is trying to figure out where to go next with my herbal treatment, as I no longer seem to need the various variations of Free and Easy Wanderer that I have been taking for much of the past year and a half, and my tongue looks great. Maybe now that my liver is no longer attacking my spleen, we can get the spleen shaped up so that it stops making phlegm...

new additions to my supplement regimen

I've now added Progressive Laboratories Vital Immunity. It contains things that will help my body process and get rid of the "bad" estrogen, so hopefully will be helpful for the fibroids: broccoli concentrate, milk thistle (which I already take but why not a little more), Indole-3-Carbinole, and Diinodoylmethane.

example of how fibroid removal surgery is not always so easy

I'm sure the doctors didn't expect to have to do three surgeries on Octomom....
